Product Description

BlueAnt's V1 Voice Controlled Bluetooth Headset introduces the revolutionary BlueGenie Voice User Interface, letting you control most functions with the sound of your voice. Amazingly, the headset will actually talk back to you too!Pushing one button activates the voice recognition technology and gives you control of all the functions of the V1, just by talking. If you need assistance, ask for it and the headset will verbally help you get the commands you want.

BlueAnt's V1 is the world's first voice-controlled Bluetooth headset, allowing you to control most phone functions from the headset thanks to the integrated BlueGenie Voice Interface. Talk to it and it will reply, ask it for assistance and it will assist you in getting the right function. This amazingly small and lightweight headset eliminates the combinations of button pushes, button holds and flashing lights synonymous with advanced Bluetooth devices. One activation button provides you with total control of the V1's entire function menu system via an easy to use voice interface.

Control your phone's functions--including answering and making call--with the BlueAnt V1.
No longer will you have to deal with lengthy or confusing button pressing to access functionality on your cell phone. Instead, the V1 can be controlled with simple phrases like "pair headset," "call home," "volume up" and "accept call." And BlueGenie's voice synthesis capability enables the V1 to speak back to you, letting you know device settings including successful pairing of the headset, battery power level, and more. With voice dial and call answering capabilities, drivers can keep their hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the road.

The V1 also incorporates dual microphones allowing for BlueAnt's patented Voice Isolation Technology, a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) software solution that uses advanced techniques to separate the user's voice signal from all other sounds, enhancing and isolating all frequencies that affect voices coming into and out of the headset. This results in outstanding environmental noise reduction, echo cancellation and wind noise protection.

The BlueAnt V1 works with Bluetooth version 2.1. Automatic reconnect also finds the last cell phone or device paired, and automatically reconnects. It includes several ear gels for an optimal in-ear fit, as well as an over-the-ear clip for added security. It also offers an innovative tie clip lets you attach the V1 headset to your shirt or cuff when not in use.

Customer Reviews:

  • Blueant V1
I read several online articles/reviews and blogs concerning the BlueAnt v1 before buying. I found the best seller on amazon for both price and peace of mind. I rate this better than google shopping or ebay. I almost bought from a vendor where the item was repackaged so read the fine print. Overall I would have to say that this bluetooth ROCKS!!!! My initial impression is that this is the best bluetooth next to the Jawbone 2. Which I almost purchased but most reviews I read stated that the Jawbone has to touch your cheek to work. Thats a deal breaker. The packing for this item was impressive. The device is charged you turn it on and like a GPS it tells you step by step what to do. I synced with a Blackberry Curve, and Samsung behold, Perfect. The instructions and cheatsheet included is robust, but if you forget just ask, Commands, Viola. It has multiple ear clips, earbuds. The audio is great. One button configuration can take some getting used to but really no need to use at all. If it rings just say Answer. If your wondering if its on say Am I connected. Power is good. My only draw back is that sometimes people on the other end may not hear you correclty. I havent figured this out yet. Could be a volume setting or another setting. I have had it for about 1 month and thought so highly of it I bought one for my mom and my girlfriend. I wish they made them in different colors but thats neither here nor there. ...more info
  • Blue ANT Headset
Over all I did not like the blue ant ,it had too much noise paired with m iPhone 3G .

    Thanks...more info
  • V1 is a hit
It syncs quickly with almost anything, and holds up to 8 different things at a time. I use all the time and the sound quality is great, and don't have to yell into it for others to hear. ...more info
  • Works well with my LG Dare but only comes in a right ear model.
Ok let me say right off the bat.
This headset is very nice, and has some very good features.
The built in Goog411 for free information calls has paid for the headset already as opposed to using the Verizon411 at a buck a shot.
I love the fact that it tells you when you are receiving a call and from what number.
Then gives you the choice of answer or ignore.
    Very cool.

The downsides are very slim, it takes a bit too much tweaking to get it dialed in with regard to setting up your favorite numbers.
Add to that, the fact that until you add all your numbers, if you ask it to make a call,
sometimes it will default to "Calling speed dial #7".
This is annoying but not terrible.
The major downside I have seen and experienced is that it is made solely for the right ear,
so I am still trying to get used to that.

I Love this headset but I am not "In Love" with it.
It is great but could be a little bit better if the operations were streamlined a little bit more.
If you have a Dare this is the headset to get, if you have an Iphone anything that isn't Bluetooth
2.1, there are better headsets available....more info
  • This is your bluetooth headset
I had an older blueant and was very happy with it but wanted something new for my new iphone. Read a review in Laptop Mag of the blueant V1 and the newest aliph jawbone II where they rated the jawbone higher so I bought the jawbone. Returned it after a couple of days. Didn't fit well and calls sounded tinny for me and the callers. Bought the V1. It is awesome! Fits great, sounds perfect (both ends), very light but wont fall out if you move your head. Voice activation is the best. When a call comes in you can say "answer" or "ignore". I love this headset....more info
  • Not as Clear Sounding as I had hoped
This headset is often fine. However, there are times when I cannot hear the caller at all. It is still unclear if it is definitely the headset or my phone with the problems...more info
  • Very Happy with this
Well, day three of owning the V1 and I have to say that I am impressed. I previously had a Jawbone. I was reasonably happy with the Jawbone and used for about a year until I lost it. So to replace it, I got the V1.
The V1 is alot more comfortable and sits on my ear nicely and firmly (alot better than the Jawbone). It is easier to slip on and off than the Jawbone was. At first, I tried the memory foam insert tip without the ear hook. It was cool because it held firmly without the hook and I can see why people like it. I am not that comfortable with things deep in my ear, though, so I am now using the rubber tip with the hook. Again, it is very comfortable and does not wiggle when I move around like the Jawbone did.
The sound quality is excellent. After using it in different circumstances (car, outside in the wind, etc.), listeners on the other end heard me very clearly.
The voice control is impressive and reliable. This is the first voice control device where I did not have to repeat any of the commands for it to understand me. Three days of using it and it picked up every command I gave it (and, with the novelty of this, I really used the voice control alot.).
I have no problem with how the voice speed dials are set up. Some of the other reviewers thought it was difficult but I did not sweat it.
I love the fact that a voice announces the Caller ID of an incoming call. I also love the fact that there is a voice command to tell me the battery level. This may sound like a small convenience but this and the other conveniences add up to a great experience.
    I do recommend this product.

  • Best bluetooth headset I've ever used. You can actually hear your callers.
Just like the title says, this is the best bluetooth headset I've used. I've tried several Jabra models and most recently the first version of the Aliph Jawbone, which died on me after a couple of years, prompting me to buy this headset. I hated the Jawbone for two reasons: the lousy fit in my ear, and the fact that it was incredibly quiet -- I really couldn't hear callers with the volume turned all the way up, especially if I was driving.

The Blue Ant solves both of those problems completely, and gives me some added bonus stuff that I really like.

The adjustable earpiece and interchangeable ear inserts allow me to get a pretty decent fit in my ear. Doesn't feel custom, but feels like it aint going to fall out (and it doesn't).

The call volume level is fantastic. I can actually make it TOO loud to listen to comfortably.

And, surprisingly, the noise cancellation technology is vastly superior to the much vaunted Jawbone. I know this from direct comments by people who I call regularly who have immediately asked if I got a new headset. Apparently the sound of this one lacks a sort of digital processing quality that the Jawbone had and is much more clear as a result.

The voice control is fairly nifty, and I love the battery life.

Only complaints are: if I walk out of range of the phone, the headset does not readily re-engage/re=pair with the phone. I have to either switch the headset off and back on, or hit the two volume buttons simultaneously to get it to re-pair (which is what the manual says to do).

All in all, extremely satisfied with this little bugger....more info
  • the little ant that could
not a bad little product for a company I've never heard about. I would defintely recommend buying a carrying case for this little guy as it doesnt go in pockets very well. Other than that I cant complain. The voice guidance is very handy and love the voice caller ID....more info
  • I have tried almost every bluetooth this is the best so far!
I have tried almost every bluetooth; this is by far the best one so far I have had it for about 6 weeks so far and it has been working well. the one thing i like about it is you virtually do not have to touch your phone while driving, you just say a command and it does it for you.
One thing I have noticed is if you call long distance it seems like it isn't as clear; kind of sounds a little fuzzy sometimes. But then again it could be doing that when the other person is on her bluetooth at the same time. I really don't know for sure.
Also when your in a store sometimes it isn't as clear either, like there is some interference but not in every store just some.
other then that I like it because it is comfortable on your ear and I really like all of the little features. ...more info
  • awsome headset
Everything works as promised including voice commands. Great integration with my blackberry. Very good reception. I highly recommend. Only nit pick is you need to double click to terminate a call which doesn't always work if you click fast. You need to be careful....more info
  • Love My BlueAnt!
I'm new to using Bluetooth headsets, and novelty or not, I love my BlueAnt! I researched headsets for sound quality and this one delivers. The best part for an over-40 guy who can't clearly see anything that's closer than his finger tips is the voice recognition. Easy pariing and set up right out of the box. With the release of the Q1, the price on the V1 is dropping and the value for this unit is outstanding. Also, I phoned the company before purchase to check on compatibility, and the customer service was great. Thanks, BlueAnt!...more info
  • Dennis, Washington, DC
I bought the BlueAnt V1 headset to replace a lost Plantronics device. It seems to work very well and I am told by persons on the other end of the conversation the noise canceling seems to work well. In contrast to my son who bought a Jawbone for that very feature and took it back because it did not perform up to expectations. I am a simple Bluetooth user so have not taken advantage yet of all the voice-controlled features. Nevertheless, I must have an odd shaped ear for all the previous Bluetooth devices I had seemed to settle in a position angled slightly away from my ear not parallel with it. I find the BlueAnt ear bud which fits snugly in my ear allows me to use the device without an over-the-ear clip. I like that very much. Obviously the BlueAnt's light weight also contributes to the ease of wearing. Finally it comes with a miniature "tie clip" as an integral part of the device so that when not in the ear it can be clipped onto shirt, etc. Hope readers will find one or more of these attributes to their liking and sway them to a really fine device. ...more info
  • Best BT Headset EVER
This is bar none the best BT headset I've ever used. I've had some Motorola units which generally worked well enough and more importantly were bullet proof; one unit even spent the night in a puddle of rainwater without damage. I also, for a few weeks, had the first Jawbone, which worked great, but fit poorly and broke the first time my kid knocked it off my head.

This however, works great, fits great, and is smaller and lightweight. The voice control is effortless, though a user level with shorter confirmations would be nice.

I finally have a headset that fits and works! Now, let's see if it can take living in the real world with my kids o_0...more info
  • Blue Ant V1 with Blackberry Storm
I'm certain this is a good product; very easy to use, setup and pair. Everyone I talk with says the quality of sound is very good. However, the incoming sound quality is not very good and the clarity/definition of sound of the person talking degenerates with the length of the call. After a few minutes of talking, I have to disconnect and finish the call with the handset. This may only be a problem with the BlackBerry Storm....more info

  • Blue Ant does it again!
Very satisfied - four choices of ear bud means a good fit and the design is such that it will last a long time and stay soft. Sound is clear and unit is small and light. Sure wish it worked better with my Palm Centro (apparently speed dial is incompatible)....more info
  • V1 is more hands free than others.
I've lived with my V1 for ~6 months paired with my iPhone Gen1. While not perfect, I do like him enough to have replaced him after finding him sitting in a puddle of water one rainy day. My second V1 behavior was identical to my first (reasonable factory production control). Speech recognition was a surprise feature actually. My real reason for the purchase was dual microphones applied to wind and background noise cancelation. IMHO the right way to do it. I've waited for a long time for somebody to deliver on the technology.

    Pros:
The V1 has good audio quality and even better background noise rejection. Having reasonably good voice and pitch independent speech recognition (around 80%), referencing my Favorites contact list make a truly hands free experience. I don't even have to touch anything while answering an incoming call, redialing last outgoing, or calling back last incoming call. The V1 tells me the caller ID number and I can choose to answer or ignore verbally.

Cons: Well... 80% speech recognition... It can be embarrassing to have V1 pick the wrong speed dial, and it becomes no longer a hands free experience! This problem improved when setting and leaving Sensitivity Level on High. Also I was not aware of how much I mumble my V1 lets me know every time.
Finishing a call is not thought out very well. When canceling or hanging up a call I will press the BlueAnt button twice. Switching Voice Isolation Max mode I will press once. I stop counting how many time I've gone to hang up and inadvertently switching Voice Isolation Max on or off instead. I find this annoying.
Also I'm sorry Goog911 occupies one of my speed dial favorites. BlueAnt, If it must be there, please make a option to disable it and allow me to use my speed dial 5 instead.

    Further Comments:
V1 is not bad speech recognition Handfree earpiece considering no claims of iPhone support. I have been reasonably happy and I'm hoping BlueAnt listens to customer feedback, makes fixes, and releases an update soon. ( Yes my Mac does boot camp into Windows XP for updates if I must do it that way.)...more info
  • Holy smoke!!!
After reading every review I could find, and trying several high end hard wired headsets, I decided on the Blue Ant V1. I could not be more pleased. The voice instruction teaches you how to use it, the sound quality is better than using the phone itself, and even on the busiest days the battery lasts and lasts. The 2 year warranty makes this the best bet as well. Finally Amazon had the best price, with shipping....more info
  • Overal good
The product has a great design, comes with every extra you could want (different ear hooks and buds, car charger, computer charger, wall charger), gives commands and speech controled dials. Only issue I have is that sometimes people say I sound like I'm really far away or in a tunnel and I have to switch to the phone....more info
  • Poor performer
I had hoped this BlueAnt headset would be everything reviewers had said, but I was sadly mistaken. The main problem was that no matter what volume level I set, people's voices always sounded muffled. My crappy Plantronics 320 was a dream compared to this thing.

It was also uncomfortable to wear, as both of the rubber ear tips hurt my ears, and both of the foam ones wouldn't stay in, even if I compressed the foam prior to putting the headset on like it said in the manual.

Another problem was that when I would lean over to reach something, the V1 would disconnect calls! Weird, but true.

I had purchased a BlueAnt wireless speakerphone for my car and had to return it because no matter what voice command I said to it, it *always* thought I was saying "Contacts". I would say "Call home" and it would say "Contacts". My LG Voyager's voice recognition has hardly ever had a problem with voice commands - it gets them right almost all the time - but with the BlueAnt speakerphone, it never worked. When I called BlueAnt tech support about it, they tried to help troubleshoot it but to no avail, so the unit went back.

I will not try another BlueAnt product. You shouldn't either....more info
  • Love the BlueAnt
This is a terrific Bluetooth headset. The noise cancellation feature is wonderful as is the clarity for both sides of the conversation. I love the voice command feature - very easy to use, even the first time. I did have one issue with the headset but I called the customer support and they were quick to respond and resolve the problem satisfactorily. I do wish there was flexibility to rename the speed dial positions, but that is a minor inconvenience for me. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. ...more info
  • great headset
I needed a new headset because I wasn't able to hear my wife on the other end--and that's never good. With previous headsets of mine, I couldn't turn her up loud enough, and she would hear herself echoing. This headset solves those problems. It's also very comfortable to wear. It comes with multiple ear gels and a clip, but I'm still using the standard pieces.

The voice activation is more than a gadget--it enables you to multitask better, whether driving or doing chores around the house.

One of the speed dials calls GOOG411, which is an awesome free service.

If I could improve it, I would want to be able to customize the voice commands of Call Home, Call Office, Speed Dial 7, etc. I believe I know why they don't...by limiting the number of words used to command the device, it can better recognize what you're saying. They probably had a bunch of varying voices say "Switch Headset Off" in order for my voice to work every time. However, if I recorded that phrase myself, I would have to be vary careful to remember the exact speed and pitch I used when speaking the phrase. It's voice recognition work far better than my 3-yr old Motorola Razr.

Oh--the two best features!! You can MUTE it by pressing both vol buttons at the same time. And you can turn off the LED light by holding down the blue Ant button for 5-6 seconds.

After my wife's headset dies (or gets lost) I'll buy her this one so I can hear her better....more info

  • Best so far
I have been using a Bluetooth headset since they were available many phones ago. I have used Jabra, Plantronics, Samsung, Motorola, Jawbone and a host of other ones that I can't remember.

I didn't understand the "VOICE COMMAND" feature, I figured it used the voice command of your phone. BUT it is much much more. You can just simply turn it on. If you want to know if your phone is paired/connected, press the little "Blue Ant" button and the ear piece asks "SAY A COMMAND" you just speak, "AM I CONNECTED", the earpiece responds "YOUR PHONE IS CONNECTED", Press the button and speak "CHECK BATTERY:" and the headset replies "BATTERY HIGH".

If you want to use your phones voice dial feature just press the button and speak "PHONE COMMANDS" the response is "ACTIVATING YOUR PHONES BUILT IN VOICE COMMAND" and your ready to go.

One of the most interesting features (to me) is that when your phone rings, the headset actually SPEAKS THE PHONE NUMBER and asks if you want to ANSWER OR IGNORE, you just speak "ANSWER" and the call is put through, answer "IGNORE" and the call goes right to your voice mail, all hands free.

    Overall pretty slick.

I am rough on headsets so can't comment about the durability, but if I lost this one, I would by another right now.

  • BlueAnt V1: Great Sound and Noise Reduction
As others have mentioned, the sound quality and microphones on this headset are great. For me, better than my two year old Motorola headset that didn't make it through the washing machine.

Among the other features that it provides, the extra expense for voice control is worth the cost. It makes receiving calls a breeze and truly hands free.

What does need work is the built-in speed dial system. I could live with the fact the first four are fixed--voice mail, home, office, etc. But they require that you set your mobile phone's speed dial to the numbers 1 through 9. I have a BlackBerry Bold and it's software doesn't work that way. The alternate method of capturing the last call to speed dial doesn't work for me. My office number for receiving calls is different than the office number I need to call. Hopefully, BlueAnt will improve the speed dial feature in a future firmware release.

I wouldn't let the speed dial problems stop you from purchasing. Relative to other head sets, this one is probably the best for now....more info
  • Not perfect, But best I've tried

  • Unit Failure in First Month
While I really appreciate the voice control of the V-1, mine failed in the first month. It simply wouldn't charge. V-1 support was helpful and is sending a new unit. Here are some thoughts after a month of use. Pros: lightweight, single button control easy to find, good voice quality both for inbound and outbound calls, excellent audio menu explaining what you can do, and a very nice supply of accessories including a slick car charger and a short USB charging cable. Cons: build quality is questionable, the unit can ONLY be charged with its special cable or small adapter mated to a USB cable (tech support was specific about this ...), the ear hook can't be shaped well to fit the ear, and the built in voice shortcuts do not match up with the iPhone's menu....more info
  • Beware, no multipoint support.
I bought this to replace my Plantronics Voyager 520. Blueant makes sure to mention in many places that the unit supports up to 8 device pairings. Beware, this doesn not mean you can have more than 1 paired device active at any time. This unit does not support multi-point bluetooth (sadly I found out that's the newer Q1), it will just store pairing information for up to 8 devices. Whatever bluetooth device grabs the earpiece first gets it. This was very disappointing, and I almost feel cheated by Blueant's marketing.

Multi-point aside the voice quality and noise cancellation on this unit are the best of any other bluetooth earpiece I've tried. The voice commands are a pure gimmick and get in the way most of the time. It would be nice to be able to interrupt the voice prompts that read off the whole phone number before you can say "answer" or "ignore". By the time I can answer the call it's already on its 3rd ring and I could have pressed "answer" on my phone faster. Also with the voice prompts, it takes 3 seconds pressing the button to shut the unit off, or 20 seconds by voice....more info
  • As good as I've had so far.
Connectivity is good. Not hard to pair up or establish a connection when you've stepped out of range Doesn't drop the connection very often. This is the first headset I've had that actually shuts off when charged, which is a very good thing when you've started charging it and your phone rings. You don't have to run around trying to find the headset that isn't in your immediate vicinity. Comfort is the best I've had so far. Can hear well in all but the noisiest conditions. Enough volume and I don't hear all that well.

This unit could be tweaked just a little more, but again best I've had so far....more info
