The sound quality is as good or better than my old cord headphones. I should have bought these months ago....more info
  • good for office use
The guy who sits next to me at work seems to have some sort of nasal disease. He snorts, grunts & whimpers all day. I bought this to drown him out by listening to music from my PC. A hand gun would have worked nicely, but this works great & it keeps me out of trouble.
It's great for the office & the price is excellent....more info
  • Sony MDR-IF240RK wireless headset
I have found that the head phone works very well within my room, but it will not penetrate walls, but that is something that I overlooked when I was getting ready to buy the headset,So I have only myself to blame for that, So I am giving the headset a very good rating for sound and quality for the price that I paid for it.

  • Sony wireless headphones
Overall I am happy with the product. I liked it's versitility in the way you connect it to the TV, by either using the headphone jack or the audio video jacks in the back of the TV. The only thing I don't like about it is, if your audio video jacks on the TV are already being used for another device, then you are forced to use the small headphone jack on the side of the TV. The only problem with that is, when you use the headphone jack, it automatically cuts the sound to the TV speakers, making sound unavailable to others trying to watch the same show you are. I mostly use the headphones because I'm hard of hearing and don't want to crank the TV up too loud to make it uncomfortable to others around me listening to the same show. The sound quality through the headphones is ok, but could be improved accoustically. ...more info
  • Nice Solution
This rechargeable headset from Sony is a great solution to the dilema of having a spouse watch TV while you are trying to sleep. No need to be inconsiderate or start a new and unnecessary argument, just set the TV on mute and turn on your headset. This allows couples to not "let the sun go down on your wrath."
You can trust Sony for quality and innovation....more info
  • Great Value for The Price !!!!!!!!!!!
I bought this headset for my laptop, so that I wouldn't have to deal with wires in my office. I have to say they are GREAT. Sony quality is truly the best in electronics....more info
  • Best System I Have Found
Besides occasionally coming home to watch some TV after my wife is in bed, I have had some trouble understanding the dialogue on TV broadcasts because our set has those 2-cent speakers that manufacturers like to install. This Sony headphone system completely corrects the problem. It works wonderfully, allows you to turn off the set's speakers, is in hi-fi and stereo, does not pick up the buzz from other electronic devices being used nearby, and is of much better quality at a lower price than those TV Ears you see advertised. I've purchased two, one for me and one as a gift. I highly recommend them if you have the same needs....more info
  • Sony wireless headphones
These are great headphones. I like 'em so much this is my second pair. I would like them better only if they enclosed the ears, something like the Bose set. ...more info
  • Hissing noise is too much
I just brought these home from the store and tried using with my MP3 player. The sound quality is not bad, but the hissing noise is too much. I can even here it in the background during the music. These are going back in the box and back to the store. I suggest you don't waste your time with these....more info
  • Sony headphone value is hard to beat
If you need to replace the packaged headphones that came with your Sony TV this is a great buy.

I bought these wireless headphones to replace the pair that came with my Sony KV-32XBR250 WEGA after the headband broke. I guess 10 years of use wasn't factored into that old design.

The salesman at the Sony store told me this model would work with my TV because Sony has used the same IR protocol for many years. Rather than pay $99, I bought them here at Amazon for much less and crossed my fingers: the work!

I find the sound quality as good or better than the original headphones and they are much more comfortable to wear.

I use them at a 20ft distance from the TV with no noise issues until the batteries start to get low which is a decent enough reminder. I'm not sure how long they take to charge (I guess I should read the manual) but I pick them up from the charger 24hrs later and they seem to last for weeks between recharges.

I originally gave this item 4 out of 5 stars because I found the signal highly directional at that distance. Often, when I turned my head to look away from the TV the signal dropped out until I turned back to face the emitter on the TV. This turned out to be a limit of the transmitter in the TV itself. Using the RCA audio output on the TV and the base station avoids this issue completely.

I can't manage without these headphones when others need the house quiet!

    5 out of 5 stars....more info
  • disappointed
I am disappointed in these headphones. I always hear static and the claimed 20 ft distance is exaggerated. I wouldn't recommend them. ...more info

  • Sony Wireless Headphone System
Purchased three sets one for my daughter-in-law who watches tv without waking sleeping infant and for my husband and son-in-law to view television without disturbing others with loud volume. Excellent product so far. They are pleased. Late review due to being out of town and limited access to internet services. ...more info
  • Awesome
I have owned these headphones now for 3 months and have only have to charge them once. they are great sounding and I would recomment them to any one....more info
  • Great little wireless headphones
Where I work we are not allowed to use RF based wireless devices so these Infrared based headphones were just the ticket. I've been using these for almost a year and they are in use most of the workday. The sound is nice and true and the signal doesn't go out of my cubicle. I can hear things going around me which is important for the telephone, fire alarms, etc. unlike over the ear cup style headphones. Also my ears do not get hot like when using a larger cup style phones. All in all, a quality product (it's a Sony no less) and works great. I'm not an audiophile by no means but I like to listen to music while working and these do a great job of that, with no discernable distortion. I like them so well I'm going to get more sets for home use and my wife wants a pair for her workspace....more info
  • good enough
Decent headphones for tv watching late at night when you don't want to have to turn the sound up too high to hear the tv over someone snoring. There is some amount of static at high volumes, but it does the job....more info

  • Sony MDR-IF240RK Headphones
I had purchased a set of these headphones a couple of years ago and was more than pleased with them. This second set also provided outstanding results. I would recommend them highly to anyone interested in wireless headphones. ...more info
  • Everything you expect....
These headphones work great and the price is what you would expect to pay for a quality product. The only thing I would like is a more comfortable head band, maybe some padding to comform more to your head....more info
  • Great for the hard of hearing!
I have to admit it. I don't wear my hearing aid the way I should. My wife and kids always complain that the TV is too loud, especially with rented movies.

I purchased these headphones and that took care of the problem. I pick them up off of our Sony Speaker System and put them on. I can hear every word now without having to turn up the volume.

My wife is pleased and I am pleased....more info
  • Wireless Headphones
Great product for the money! My only complaint is that the range sucks but not bad if you stay within the room and headphones are a little cheap and flimsy.
Overall they are a great set for watching TV.

  • Sony MDR-IF240RK Wireless Headphone review.
The sound is great but the following three problems are annoying.
    1. The ON-OFF switch and the VOLUME controls are so tiny and hard to feel and operate while the headphones are over head. You may have to remove them to adjust.
    2. When changing TV channels, the sound volume also changes. It would be nice if the headphones kept the same volume no matter what the TV volume is.
    3. The headphones fall off head when bending down. You have to hold them in place....more info
  • Not bad, limited range, direct line of sight only
The headphones sound pretty good when you have clear line to transmitter and you don't exceed around 15 feet. I don;'t consider my living room area to be all that big, but I can easily go from clear to static by walking around the room. It does, hwoever, allow me to watch the morning news without waking the wife on those occasions where I get up first. One thing to bear in mind, few TV's have these audio headphone jacks these days, at least in my house. I can only use these on one TV (connected to stereo surround), was surprised to find this out about new TV's...more info
  • Love it
It works great and its worth the price! Best Buy was selling it for twice the price!...more info
  • Returned To Sender!
This sounded like such a great product...in fact it cost more than the others. I wanted a good one so I got it. It would have really been great if only worked. I finally returned it for my money back. While this product wasn't good, Amazon service certainly was fantastic. They made the return easy and promt....more info
  • Not worth it-buy something else...
These headphones had a lot of static and the range was ridiculously low. I had a set of Philips before these where the headphones were top-notch, minimal static, very sturdy and stayed on my head. I'm a smaller woman and I can't get these Sony things to stay on my head at all. They slide all over the place and fall of constantly. They are very lightweight, but it doesn't matter because you can only sit in one place and not move your head at all or they fall right off. I'm going to return them as soon as I find a good replacement. They do keep their charge a long time though. As a side note don't buy Best Buy's product Rocketfish. They shorted out and broke in 2 weeks. They didn't have much less static then these Sony headphones. I think I am going to have to spend a lot of money to buy a decent pair. I wish I could find those Philips headphones again. One good feature is that they have the volume control on the headset. This is essential I think when buying wireless headphones....more info
  • Good but not for use on a treadmill
The setup and use of this product was pretty straight forward. I wanted to use this on a home treadmill while watching TV. As soon as the treadmill motor went on all you hear is static. One call to Sony and they confirm that infared will get this type of interference from the motor. I returned to Amazon for a refund. Return process by Amazon was great. If you want to use wireless headphones for a treadmill you need to get RF not infared....more info
  • Sony wireless headphones
This is an excellent set of headphones. Easy to hook up and use, with good sound and quality....more info
  • Works great at my desk...not for roaming.
I was tired of always knocking the cord out from my old headphones, so I bought these... For what I wanted -- a set of cordless headphones, they work great. I can work at my computer desk without the hassle of short cords.

However, they will only work as long as the headphones are in direct sight of the base. A thick stack of papers is enough to obscure the signal at close range. I would agree with the 24ft range, but only if you walk in a clear straight line from the base.

The battery life is great -- I usually wear them for about 8 - 16 hours while at work and charge overnight. The sound is clear -- the headphones comfy... With a slightly stronger signal they would be perfect.

The review suggests using these while roaming the yard or house, but I definitely don't think it is up to that kind of task. For use while roaming your desk is more accurate....more info
  • Sony Headphones worth getting
these are lightweight and comfortable. easy to set up and the sound is really clear. Also you can hear whats going on around you at the same time but it doesnt interfere with the nice quality listening through the headphones. Ive only used them with the TV so far and am very happy with this purchase....more info
  • Cordless private listening for TV, and video games, but music....
Sony MDR-IF240RK Wireless Headphone System is at its best with the transmitter facing toward the listener at moderate or low earphone volumes. Late-night TV watchers might find these perfect. Music produced through the headphones is a little thin, and there remains a constant hiss throughout the optimum listening range out to about 12-15 feet. Even though the unit claims 24 feet as the maximum distance, in most real world situations clear reception at that range is unlikely. The earphones themselves are not of the most sturdy construction, but would likely serve well over a long period of time if cared for properly.

If these are being considered for TV watching, the transmitter could be placed near the TV, and the headphone receivers would face forward during their use. That seems the best configuration. I would have to recommend against their use strictly for high fidelty audio, as other more expensive units might provide a much better quality audio signal. But you can't beat cordless headphones in certain situations....more info
  • SONY Wireless Headphones Solve Problem
The MDR-IF240RK Wireless Headphone System has made it possible for me to enjoy DVDs and our DVR with a normal sound setting while the mute button is pushed to keep the house quiet for sleeping family members. For years I have had to regulate the sounds to avoid disturbing others. What a difference! It was worth the expense and easy to install by myself. Great product. ...more info
